BENEFITS OF BECOMING AN LHA MEMBER

General Membership

  • State and Federal Advocacy – LHA works with a legislative consultant to move and support legislation vital to affordable housing, and defend against legislation harmful to equitable housing policies. Members can access LHA staff for assistance with advocacy strategies
  • Access to Information and Knowledge-Sharing – Members receive e-newsletters, access to LHA’s web-based project management system (Basecamp), and networking/knowledge-sharing opportunities via LHA’s social media sites (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter)
  • Calls to Action – Members receive e-mail notification of significant policy developments requiring constituent calls or letters to local, state and federal officials
  • Training and Capacity-Building
    • LHA hosts an annual housing conference which provides opportunities for training, networking, and peer-to-peer learning among nonprofits, government officials and other stakeholders. The conference draws advocates, providers, funders, consumers and low income individuals together to provide expertise and updates to attendees on current state housing policy initiatives
    • All LHA workshops are offered at a reduced rate for members
    • No charge for select capacity-building and educational sessions
    • Special “Members Only” events
    • Resource referrals with linkage to state and regional networks
    • Participation in policy-setting decisions of the LHA – Members can share policy ideas and strategies during the Annual Listening Tour, as well as serve on LHA’s Policy Committee
    • Technical assistance from LHA staff – LHA staff is available to assist members with research questions, organizing techniques and general information

MEMBERSHIP DUES

The Louisiana Housing Alliance depends on membership dues, contributions, and foundation grants to support its work.  LHA is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, and dues are tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
