About Us

The Louisiana Housing Alliance (LHA) is a nonprofit statewide coalition working to ensure the preservation and production of quality affordable housing for low and moderate income Louisianans and those with special needs.

As the only housing policy and technical assistance organization operating statewide to support Louisiana’s affordable housing partners, LHA represents a unified voice for housing providers and advocates who provide services critical to the state’s economic and social well-being. These partners are the cornerstone for the production and preservation of affordable rental units, as well as expanding options for homeownership, for low-wealth families, and LHA is honored to serve and support them in this important work.

WE BELIEVE IN LOUISIANA THAT . . .

A home gives Louisianans the opportunity to build stability, a community, and a future!

Hardworking Louisianans should be able to afford a place to call home and still be able to put food on the table.

No family should need to sleep in a car.

No veteran should live on the streets.

Children deserve an opportunity to succeed in school and life; in Louisiana this begins with a place to call home.

No parent should have to choose between rent and buying a child’s winter coat.

We should no longer need emergency shelters.

No senior should fear eviction.

Poor families should be able to choose where they want to live.

Neighborhoods and families experience more stability and success when homes are affordable.  When elderly residents can keep their older homes, when young people can find that first apartment, when parents and children can put down roots in the community with confidence, then our whole community benefits!

WHAT OTHERS SAY ABOUT US

In developing a new structure for their Listening Tour that simultaneously informs state legislative work and directly engages local community-defined issues, LHA has created innovative, systemic model for addressing housing and community development needs.

“Great newsletter!  I love the voterization idea below too.  I’d be more than happy to strategize with you on incorporating voting into the HTF campaign, which is a great article from Jason as well!  I have  had lots of electoral experience with residents and general community folks from a c3 perspective.”
